Independent Certification - Real Confidence
Third-Party Certification (TPC) is a voluntary, non-mandatory way to provide independent assurance that products and services perform as intended. For door manufacturers, subscribing to a TPC scheme can help demonstrate that their products are consistently manufactured to meet the scope and standards for which they are certified.

While certification involves costs and additional oversight, it offers clear benefits; enhanced quality control, robust record-keeping, traceability and tracking staff competency. As a systems house, at Wood International Agency Limited, we can help guide our customers through their TPC journey whether they are joining a scheme for the first time or are long-standing subscribers.
What Does Third-Party Certification Do?
- Provides additional confidence that the certified product has been manufactured in accordance with relevant evidence and processes.
- Gives independently verifiable information and a basis for which each certified product has been certified (e.g. testing, factory production control, sampling, technical documentation, etc.)
- Subjects the subscribing manufacturer to additional scrutiny by an appropriate independent (i.e. Third-Party) organisation.
- Allows opportunity for product recalls or a change in scope should a safety-critical problem be discovered with a system, manufacturer, component or configuration.
What Doesn't Third-Party Certification Do?
- Verify a product is legal/in accordance with regulation/perfectly manufactured.
- Pass the responsibility for placing compliant product on the market from the manufacturer to the certification provider.
- Remove the need for inspection and maintenance after the doors have been installed.
- Provide a guarantee that the product will function for a certain period of time
- Provide a guarantee that the manufacturer/fabricator of the doorset/assembly has been subjected to a fire test.
Each TPC scheme has their own rules and requirements for membership. You can approach any certification provider with queries relating to their scheme rules and the methods to which they are applied. We would always recommend using a certification scheme that is accredited by UKAS and willing to communicate their certification in a transparent way.
